Payments And Settlement

Get paid directly through your own Stripe account

Bite2Byte connects every online order to the restaurant's own Stripe account, so the money from a sale settles directly to the restaurant instead of passing through a platform account in the middle. Australian restaurants price in AUD with GST-inclusive totals, and every order produces a tax-ready receipt automatically. There is no marketplace commission on orders, so the sale and the payout relationship both stay with the restaurant.

The short answer

  • Online payments run through the restaurant's own Stripe account, connected during setup.
  • Money settles directly to the restaurant, and Bite2Byte takes no marketplace commission on orders.
  • Prices display in AUD, GST-inclusive, so the total shown is the total the customer pays.
  • Every order generates a tax-ready email receipt automatically, with no one having to send it.
  • Guest checkout is available on web, so first-time customers can pay without creating an account.

Why your own Stripe account matters

A delivery marketplace sits between the customer and the restaurant. It charges a commission on each order and it owns the customer relationship. Bite2Byte is built the other way around: the customer's card payment goes into the restaurant's own Stripe account, the same account the restaurant can use for the rest of its business.

That matters for two practical reasons. First, the restaurant sees its own transactions, refunds and payout history inside its own Stripe dashboard, rather than inside a portal someone else controls. Second, no marketplace commission comes out of the order before it settles, because there is no marketplace taking a cut between the customer's payment and the restaurant's account.

The same Stripe-backed checkout runs on the web ordering site, the iOS app and the Android app, all built from one codebase, so payments behave the same way no matter where the order was placed.

What's included with payments

Payments cover more than just taking a card number.

AUD, GST-inclusive pricing

Every price shown to the customer is in Australian dollars and already includes GST, so the total at checkout is the total charged, with nothing added afterwards.

Tax-ready receipts

A receipt is generated automatically for every completed order, formatted to sit neatly in the restaurant's own records.

Guest checkout on web

Customers can pay on the website without first creating an account, so a first-time order does not begin with setting a password.

No marketplace commission

Payments settle directly to the restaurant's Stripe account, and Bite2Byte takes no marketplace commission out of the order total.

Consistent across web and app

The same Stripe-backed checkout runs on the website, the iOS app and the Android app, built from one codebase.

Setting up payments

Getting paid through Bite2Byte follows the Stripe setup most restaurants already know.

  1. 1

    Connect the restaurant's Stripe account

The restaurant links its own Stripe account, or creates one, during setup. The account stays in the restaurant's name and under its control.

  2. 2

    Confirm AUD and GST settings

Pricing is checked against AUD and GST-inclusive display, so online totals match what the restaurant already charges in person.

  3. 3

    Go live and receive payouts

Once connected, orders placed through the branded app and website settle to that Stripe account on its normal payout schedule.

Receipts and reconciliation

Every completed order produces a tax-ready email receipt without anyone at the restaurant having to generate or send it. Because pricing is GST-inclusive from the start, the receipt reflects exactly what the customer paid.

Because payments run through the restaurant's own Stripe account, existing reconciliation habits still work. A bookkeeper or accountant can pull statements and transaction history straight from Stripe, the same way they would for any other Stripe-connected sales channel, instead of learning a separate marketplace payout report.

Questions, answered

Does Bite2Byte take a cut of my online payments?
No. There is no marketplace commission on orders placed through the app, and payments settle directly to the restaurant's own Stripe account. The platform arrangement itself is separate and straightforward, and the pricing for it is walked through on a booked demo, matched to the restaurant's size and order volume.
Do I need my own Stripe account to use Bite2Byte?
Yes. Bite2Byte connects to a Stripe account the restaurant itself owns and controls, rather than paying the restaurant out of an account Bite2Byte owns. That means the restaurant sees its own payouts, refunds and transaction history inside its own Stripe dashboard, the same way it would for any other sales channel it runs.
Are the prices shown to customers GST-inclusive?
Yes. All prices shown to customers are in AUD and GST-inclusive, so the total displayed at checkout is the total the customer actually pays, with no extra tax line added afterwards. Every completed order then generates a tax-ready receipt automatically, so nothing has to be written up by hand later.
Can customers pay without creating an account first?
Yes. The website supports guest checkout, so a first-time customer can go from menu to payment to receipt without setting up a login. Signing in stays optional, and customers who do choose it get their order history and loyalty points tracked.
How quickly do payments reach my bank account?
Payouts follow the restaurant's own Stripe payout schedule, exactly as they would for any other business using that Stripe account directly. Bite2Byte does not sit in between as a second settlement step, hold the funds, or add an approval layer between a customer's payment and the restaurant's own Stripe balance.
